2024 ICE Development Academy

The Melbourne Ice is proud to release its third season of Elite Junior Training. 

This year we will again be running a 13 week development program from 'April to July' for players wishing access to our coaches, systems and exclusive ice time.

Wednesday Nights @ 10.00pm.: April 24th to July 24th inclusive. 

Grading night April 17th. 2024 

Coach Goulet will be joined by 2-3 imports to provide elite skills training every week, designed to lift the bar on individual and team play.

The Melbourne Ice Elite Academy for 2024 is a 12 week [after try outs] intensive course designed to significantly help young [16-21 y.o.] achieve their hockey goals [Summer Leagues, AJIHL, ICE TRYOUTS] or potential overseas education.

The 2024 Elite Academy will include: 

• 2 Off Ice sessions [Beginning, and Final]
• 13 On-Ice Sessions.
• One final FLASH game integrated with MI Players, with a crowd, refs and scoreboard.
• Free stick tapes and sock tapes at training.  

and

• A single GA Entry Ticket to all remaining Melbourne Ice Home Games in 2024.

Minimum age is 16 years old as at March 1, 2024. Players under 16 may be considered, but  they must provide evidence of Private Health Insurance and be deemed suitable at the grading night April 17, 2024.

Coaches for the 2023 Elite Academy will include: 

• Head Coach Kerry Goulet
• Assistants - Melbourne Ice Assistant Coaches and Imports
• Other Guest Players

O'Brien Icehouse 10.00pm weekly, from April 17, 2024 - July 24, 2024 inclusive.

  Kerry and the coaching panel will focus on these areas; 

• Power Skating with focus on developing balance, agility, and speed per session.
• Individual on-ice instruction including stick handling, passing, receiving, and shooting per session.
• Skate, speed, score training. The sessions are designed for progression of skill development. 
• Position specific systems training for forwards & defensemen including offensive and defensive zone play, face-offs, scoring techniques, power play, and penalty killing.
• Group instructional stages and small area games along with scrimmages to emphasize and implement new skill development.
• Focus on improving a player’s play with and without the puck. 
• Explain the mental part of the game both on the bench and on the ice.

• $250.00 for a Dockland Ice Wolves U17 player.
• $350.00 for all other players.
• $150.00 Goalies [will be supported with 3-4 sessions with a dedicated Goalie Coach].
